A Beni Suef citizen attempted to stab Governor Maher Baybars Wednesday while presenting a complaint at his office.

Security at the governorate offices wrested the knife from the attacker before handing him over to police.

The governor's security chief, Ashraf Omran, said he was surprised when the man approached the governor on his way to a meeting and asked to submit a complaint before taking out the knife.

Sources said the complaint regarded the governorate's supply department, but did not give additional details.

Omran said Papers continued his work and proceeded to the meeting with citizens.
