US congressmen John McCain and Joseph Lieberman arrived in Cairo on Saturday for a two-day visit.

They will meet with Supreme Council of Armed Forces members, Prime Minister Ahmed Shafiq and Arab League Secretary-General Amr Moussa to discuss developments in Egypt and ways to support the country after the 25 January revolution. They will also discuss the deteriorating situation in Libya.

McCain called on former President Hosni Mubarak to step down during the protests, saying it would be in the best interest of Egypt, its people and military.
