Parliament approves resignation of MP appointed by Sisi

Parliament approved in its Sunday session the resignation of Serry Seyam, one of the 28 members appointed by President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.

Seyam, a former Court of Cassation head and a former chairman of the Supreme Council of the Judiciary, declared his resignation earlier this month, citing what he described as the “marginalization” he experienced within the chamber.

“I feel I am not wanted inside the parliament, which I do not accept for myself and my history,” he told Al-Masry Al-Youm at the time.

Sources said that he was disappointed for not being selected for the panel that wrote the bylaws of the new parliament.
