Police stopped more than 100 Islamic and pharaonic artifacts from leaving the country Thursday after receiving a tip about a smuggling attempt.
Authorities said they had seized 133 packages containing 181 artifacts from a shipping company's warehouse in Cairo.
The executive manager of the shipping company alleged that the packages belonged to a foreign suspect who had ordered them shipped to his home country via the Alexandria Port.
