Police shoot street vendor dead

Clashes erupted in Giza Square on Monday between street vendors and security forces, leaving one street vendor dead, and another vendor along with two officers injured.

Fighting broke out when police launched a campaign to remove the vendors from the square, and they refused to leave. Police forces claim that the vendors fired guns at them, injuring two policemen. The police allegedly then fired back, killing one vendor and wounding another.

A source from the security forces alleged that the vendors stole weapons from the injured officers.

Ten vendors were arrested during the incident.
