Port Said victims buried without police, prosecutor reports

The bodies of the 29 victims killed during clashes around the Port Said prison were buried on Sunday without any preliminary investigations from police or prosecutors into their deaths, Al-Masry Al-Youm reported on Sunday.

Usually, police and prosecutors issue reports for homicides that include all of the details about the body, including where the victim was found and who else was at the crime scene.

However, the bodies of the 29 victims from the prison clashes were buried even though only the forensic medicine department had issued a report, and not prosecutors.

Al-Masry Al-Youm said that it received the forensic reports for all 29 victims. The reports showed that 28 of them were killed by 62 mm bullets, and one died of cardiac arrest.

The doctors who performed the autopsy added that they issued the burial permits after being instructed to do so by Egypt's Public Prosecution.
