The Public Funds Prosecution announced that it had recovered almost LE1 billion from former regime officials, in addition to land in Hurghada valued at over LE1.5 million, in reconciliation settlements in less than a month.

The prosecution is reconciling with the officials to pay back funds they obtained illegally in return for dropping lawsuits against them, such as Ahmed al-Maghrabi, the former housing minister, Anas al-Fiqqi, the former information minister, Hassan Saqr, the former head of the Egyptian Football Federation, and businessman Hamed al-Sheity.

The prosecution spokesperson had said in November that prosecutors recovered some LE11 billion and are working on recovering another LE50 billion.
