Rafah border to be opened for three days starting Saturday

Rafah border crossing will be opened on Saturday for three days following a phone call between the Palestinian embassy in Cairo and Egyptian intelligence, an informed security source has revealed.

The crossing will be opened from 9 am to 3 pm to allow access to Palestinian pilgrims going to Saudi Arabia and those stranded heading to both directions, the source added.

Rafah is one of two crossings through which Palestinians can exit Gaza; the other is controlled by Israel. Both crossings were closed as part of an embargo policy by Egypt during the rule of former President Hosni Mubarak, as Israel aimed at cutting off Hamas with the outside world.
