The Supreme Constitutional Court board of commissioners will review a lawsuit over the nullification of the Shura Council elections law on 10 February.

Sources from the court said Wednesday that the board would notify the parties involved in the lawsuit that they should submit their legal memorandums. After lawyers submit their pleadings, the board will draft a report evaluating the constitutionality of the law.

Egypt voted to ratify the Constitution, drafted by a mostly Islamist assembly, in a referendum last month.

During its last session, the court also postponed review of a lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of the Constituent Assembly itself to 3 February.

The Shura Council is the upper house of Parliament, which currently holds legislative powers. A court dissolved the lower house last year, saying parts of the parliamentary elections law had been unconstitutional.
