The National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority has started negotiations with Internet service providers to offer discounted prices to citizens and improve the quality of service.
The authority's board assigned chief executive Hesham Alayly to negotiate with the Internet companies. The aim is to offer fixed Internet services of 1 and 2 Megabits, as well as study the abolition of the fair use policy on services.
Alayly said he will negotiate with the companies on the need to provide innovative offers at affordable prices in order to increase Internet services, which would in turn provide more social and economic interest to the user, the state and companies.
The chief executive added that he will work with companies to fight illegal connections, one of the main reasons for the slow and poor service.
Al-Masry Al-Youm reported that Internet companies have recently made offers at discounted prices and submitted them to the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority.
