The Egyptian presidential election results mean that Egypt’s seat at the table of democracy and its accession to the family of democratic nations await, said the Turkish Ambassador in Cairo, Huseyin Avni Botsali, in the first reaction by a foreign ambassador to the Presidential Elections Commission’s announcement naming Mohamed Morsy as Egypt’s new president.

Botsali went on to say that the Egyptian people are now ready for the long path of democracy, but that Egyptians will be inspired by the people’s will.

In a statement to the state-owned Middle East News Agency, Avni said that despite the difficulties and problems in the path to democracy, the end of the path will be guaranteed. He went on to congratulate the Egyptian people in the name of the Turkish people on the results of the presidential election and on their success in the first test of democracy.

He expressed his hope for Egyptians to enjoy continuous progress, prosperity and pride.
