13 still detained over Ettehadiya clashes

Thirteen suspects are being detained pending an ongoing investigation into clashes near the Ettehadiya Presidential Palace on 11 February.

Eight others were released on LE1,000 bail.

The Heliopolis Public Prosecution has accused the suspects of committing acts of violence, sabotaging public and private property and assaulting security forces guarding the presidential palace

All denied the charges, claiming security forces arrested them randomly.

The team investigating the clashes is collecting evidence outside the palace including stones thrown by protesters as well as the remnants of Molotov cocktails. It is also cataloguing damage to palace grounds.
