15 kg tumor removed from Assiut resident’s abdomen

A tumor weighing 15 kg was successfully removed on Monday from the abdomen of an Assiut Governorate resident by a Urologic Oncology surgical team at Assiut University Hospital. The man’s kidney was also removed.

Seventy-year-old Farghali Ahmed Farag of Qusiya, Assiut was admitted to the Assiut University Hospital after suffering severe abdominal pain. After undergoing he necessary medical examinations and tests, he was diagnosed with a large abdominal tumor which doctors said must be removed immediately, according to state-run Al-Ahram newspaper’s website.
Dr. Diaa Abdel Hamid from Assiut University said the patient was doing well and that he would be discharged in five days.
