174 million cubic meters dug at new Suez Canal project

After 154 days of starting work in the new Suez Canal Project, 174 million cubic meters of dry land dredging have been completed, Armed Forces' Engineering Department Head Kamal el-Wazir said.

The total number of workers on site is nearly 23,000 (engineers, technicians, workers and drivers) through 84 companies in addition to two battalions of the Armed Forces Engineering Authority, Wazir added.

The project is scheduled to be completed after 211 days, he added.

On the other hand, Wazir has said that 80% of the Christians working at the new Suez Canal project refused to have their vacation on Christmas and insisted on resuming works.

Wazir greeted the Coptic Christians on Christmas. Workers at the project doubled their efforts to meet the deadline, he concluded.
