34 Muslim Brotherhood members sentenced to three years in jail

Suez Criminal Court sentenced 34 Muslim Brotherhood members to three years in prison on Monday on a range of charges, involving the killing of a resident of Suez.

The list of charges also includes injuring three other people, possessing weapons, harming public peace, attacking security personnel and damaging public property.

Three other defendants were acquitted of the same charges.

The incidents date back to 8 November 2013 when clashes broke out between Muslim Brotherhood supporters and residents of Al-Geish street in Suez, which left one person dead.

A total of 37 people were charged in relation to the incident.
