37 Brotherhood students sentenced to five years for rioting

 
The Nasr City Misdemeanor Court sentenced 37 Brotherhood students on Tuesday to five years in prison for involvement in the clashes that took place in Al-Azhar University on 9, 10 and 28 December 2013.
 
The court also referred a minor student to a youth detention center.
 
The defendants were charged with riotous behavior, bullying, blocking roads, assaulting police, resisting arrest, demonstrating without permit from the Interior Ministry, joining an armed terrorist group that aims to disturb public security and damage public and private property and possessing Molotov cocktails.
 
Security forces dispersed the riots with tear gas canisters and arrested the protesting students.
