50 Morsy backers acquitted of Minya violence

The Deir Mawas Misdemeanor Court in Minya on Thursday acquitted 50 supporters of former president Mohamed Morsy of charges of rioting and sabotage which took place in the province last year.

The defendants, who include four Muslim Brotherhood leaders in Minya, were accused of invading public facilities, robbing and vandalizing churches and Copts’ properties, running anti-police and-army marches and breaking the protest law at the village of Delga following the overthrow of Morsy in July 2013.

They were arrested last November.
