6 killed, 10 injured in accident atrributed to weather

The poor weather conditions that hit Egypt on Tuesday caused multiple closures of sea ports, airports, streets and even reportedly caused a fatal car accident.
 
Six people were killed and 10 others injured when three cars collided on Safaga-Qena highway. The accident was attributed to the bad weather.
 
Meanwhile, eight seaports were shutdown and there was traffic jams on the majority of main roads.
 
Roads and main corridors of all areas of Cairo witnessed severe traffic congestion especially in Nasr City and the surrounding area and the 6th of October Bridge, said a security source at the Cairo Traffic General Administration's task force.
 
Traffic on Qasr al-Qubba streets was at a standstill as well due to the visit of the Russian President Vladimir Putin to Qasr al-Qubba Palace. Downtown Cairo traffic was severly affected as well by the bad weather, according to the same source.
 
In Alexandria, three aircrafts were tranferred to land at Cairo airport instead of the Borg al-Arab airport.
 
The Red Sea Ports Authority announced Tuesday shutting down the ports of Safaga, Hurghada, Nuweiba, Port Tawfiq, Adabiya, al-Zayteyat and Ain Sokhna.
 
Damietta, and Bughazy ports were also closed Tuesday over bad weather and high waves.  
 
Similar moves by Saudi Arabian authorities to close the port of Duba caused the suspension of traffic between the Saudi and Egyptian ports.
 
In Kafr El-Sheikh, fishing was suspended in the Mediterranean Sea and Borollos lake. 
 
In North Sinai, the Arish seaport was closed. 
 
In Sharqiya, the windstorm led to obscure vision for long distances on the main roads and byroads, and affected traffic and the movement of pedestrians on the streets and led to power outages in some areas.
 
Waheed Saudi, spokesman for the Meteorological Authority, expected the bad weather to continue on Wednesday.
 
Weather on Wednesday is expected to also be unstable as dust and wind will be active obscuring visibility and hindering maritime activities, he said.
 
Cold weather will prevail in the daylight and very day cold at night on all parts, with great opportunities for rainfall on very on coastal cities, said Saudi.
 
Saudi mentioned that weather will improve starting Thursday afternoon.
