92 more arrested for Israeli Embassy attack

Egyptian military police have arrested a new group of protesters who allegedly tried to storm the Israeli Embassy in Cairo last Friday, bringing the number of detainees to 130, state-run media reported on Sunday.

Egypt's military troops and police have arrested a new group of 92 protesters on charges of rioting in front of the Israeli Embassy, the state-run MENA news agency reported on Sunday.

State-owned daily Al-Ahram also reported on Sunday that the arrest toll has risen to 130. Some of the detained are accused of trying to break into the Giza Security Directorate, only few hundred meters away from the Israeli Embassy.

The prosecution office, according to MENA, is currently interrogating the suspects, before referring them to an Emergency State Security Court.

On Friday night, hundreds of protesters tried to storm the 22-story building housing the Israeli Embassy.
