The World Cup trophy arrived at Cairo International Airport on Thursday afternoon for the second time in its history.
The trophy was welcomed by a colourful crowd of belly-dancers, celebrities and government officials.
The committee receiving the trophy held a celebration at the airport followed by a press conference.
Attending the ceremony were stars Hisham Abbas, Ezzat Abu Auf, Mahmoud Kabil, Yousra, Bushra, Asser Yassin, Arwa Gouda, Maya Shiha and Dorra.
The athletes that attended were Mostafa Abdou, Hazem Emam, Ahmed Hassan, Hani Ramzy and Mohamed Shawky.
The trophy, which was placed inside a secure display case, is touring 89 countries before it ends in Brazil next year. It weighs six kilograms and is made of pure gold.
A FIFA representative opened the box and held the trophy high, marking the beginning of the star-studded ceremony.
The parade of the trophy will head to the presidential palace in Heliopolis to meet with Interim President Adly Mansour.
The first time it came to Cairo was in 2010 before the start of the World Cup in South Africa.
