Zaazou: Germany will lift travel ban soon

Minister of Tourism Hisham Zaazou said on Sunday that he was satisfied with the results of the Berlin Tourism Fair that was held in the German capital from 5 to 9 March.

“Most importantly is that Germany will soon lift the travel ban to Egypt that was announced on 26 February,” he said.

“We held many meetings during the fair to boost tourism to Egypt,” he added, pointing to a meeting with the official responsible for the Middle East in the German Foreign Ministry.

“I told them the Muslim Brotherhood is trying to tell the world that the situation in Egypt is not stable because it opposes the regime,” he said. “But I assured them that international attitudes will change once we elect a president and a new parliament in three months and complete the roadmap.”

Zaazou asked the prime minister and the interior minister to officially invite a German security delegation to visit Sharm el-Sheikh and assess the real situation there.

He also said that German tour operators and airlines will continue marketing Egypt as a tourist destination.
