SCZone, GS Global Sourcing Co. to set up 15-million-dollar project in Qantara area

The Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone) signed on Sunday, 18-5-2025, a contract with GS Global Sourcing Co Ltd to set up a project for ready-to-wear clothes in the West Qantara area with 15-million-dollar investments.

Spanning over 27,00 square meters, the project will produce more than 12 million pieces of ready-to-wear clothes, all of which will be exported, and provide 2,000 direct jobs.

Head of the SCZone Walid Gamal al-Din said that West Qantara Zone is one of the successful models in luring investments especially in the textile and ready-made garments sector thanks to its proximity to the Suez Canal and Egypt’s major ports, making it ideal for labor-intensive industries.

He added that the new project reflects international investors’ confidence in the area and the area’s ability to lure international supply chains and serve trade marks.

The new project raises total investments in West Qantara Zone to $579.5 million across 19 projects, generating over 27,300 direct jobs.

Founded in 2017, GS Global Sourcing is part of a major industrial group with over 25 years of experience. The company reported sales exceeding $600 million in 2022 and manufactures about 100 million apparel units annually for major international brands. The group has operations in China, Egypt, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Ethiopia, and Kenya.
