Washington issues warning to citizens amid escalating Middle East tensions

The United States on Monday called upon its citizens worldwide to exercise caution, citing escalating tensions in the Middle East. The State Department noted that the ongoing conflict in the region could expose American travelers and residents to increased security risks.

In a security statement, the US Department of State affirmed that “the conflict between Israel and Iran has led to travel disruptions and frequent airspace closures in the region.”

The Department also highlighted the potential for demonstrations targeting American citizens and interests abroad.

The US State Department advised all Americans to heighten their vigilance while traveling or residing outside the country.

Notably, the statement did not address the American role in the conflict, specifically the attacks that targeted nuclear facilities inside Iran, despite warnings from Tehran about “irreparable” consequences.

Iran has vowed to retaliate for the recent American strikes, which the Pentagon claimed inflicted severe damage on the Iranian nuclear program.
