Heat wave grips Egypt on Monday, EMA warns against direct exposure to sunlight

The Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) warned that Monday’s temperatures will rise by up to three degrees Celsius across the country, as a heatwave sets in.

The weather will be humid and very hot during the day across most areas, while being hot and humid at night.

The EMA issued important tips for citizens, including avoiding direct exposure to the sun during the afternoon, drinking sufficient amounts of water, and wearing light-colored cotton clothing to avoid sunstroke.

Active winds are expected in areas of the North Coast and South Sinai at intermittent intervals.

Monday’s temperatures:

  • Matrouh: 31C
  • Alexandria: 33C
  • Cairo: 37C
  • Hurghada and Sharm El-Sheikh: 39C
  • Luxor and Aswan: 42C
