Egypt’s Foreign Ministry urges the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza amid famine

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration, and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs Badr Abdelatty called on the urgency of delivering humanitarian and medical aid to Gaza in light of the famine gripping it.

Abdelatty’s remarks came during a press conference with Reem Alabali Radovan, German Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development, and Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Rania al-Mashat, at the Cabinet headquarters in New Alamein City.

“There are sincere Egyptian efforts to quickly reach a ceasefire in Gaza,” he said, adding that “We hope to reach a ceasefire agreement soon.”

Egypt has also strongly condemned the Israeli occupation army’s bombing and targeting of places of worship in the Gaza Strip, including mosques and churches, most recently the Latin Monastery Church in Gaza.

This action is described as a new crime and a blatant violation of international humanitarian law.

Earlier in May, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty stressed that there will be no security or stability in the region without a solution to the Palestinian issue, calling for a return to the ceasefire agreement in Gaza signed in January.

At the time, he affirmed Egypt’s continued efforts to reach an agreement that guarantees the release of all hostages, halts the bloodshed against innocent Palestinian civilians, and ensures the entry of aid.

“The international community’s silence on this situation is shameful,” he said, and noted that starvation is being used as a weapon against the Palestinian people.
