PM says flu virus monitoring ongoing, no new strains detected

CAIRO, Nov 27 (MENA) – Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly said on Thursday that the government is closely monitoring the spread of influenza viruses, stressing that the appearance of new strains each year is normal during the winter season and that no new viruses have been detected in Egypt.

Speaking at the weekly government press conference following the Cabinet meeting, Madbouly said current developments in influenza do not indicate a widespread outbreak or public health crisis, describing the situation as routine and manageable.

He added that necessary medications to combat influenza are readily available and underscored the importance of transparency in sharing health information with the public. Authorities will not withhold data to ensure citizens and health agencies are fully prepared, he said.
