Sobhy says pleased with being elected chair of UNESCO’s sport committee

CAIRO, Dec 8 (MENA) – Minister of Youth and Sports Ashraf Sobhy has expressed pleasure at being elected president of UNESCO’s Intergovernmental Committee for Physical Education and Sport during an official meeting in Paris.

This marks the first time Egypt has been chosen for the position.

Speaking to Radio Misr, Sobhy thanked Egypt’s political leadership and government, as well as the foreign ministry, for their support, which he said contributed to this significant achievement.

He said the UNESCO committee is responsible for shaping global sports policies, adding he will soon hold a press conference to outline his work plan.

Sobhy added that Egypt’s unanimous victory reflects its growing leadership in sports development and the state’s strong efforts in this field. (MENA)
