FMs of Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Bahrain, Qatar hold talks with Slovenian Deputy PM

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, Bahraini Foreign Minister Abdullatif Al-Zayani, and Qatari Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan Al-Muraikhi held an extensive dialogue session on Friday with Slovenian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Tanja Fajon in Ljubljana.

According to a joint statement, the ministers discussed means to enhance regional and international security and stability, with a particular focus on the situation in the Gaza Strip.

They stressed the importance of adhering to the ceasefire agreement and fully implementing its provisions, facilitating the entry of sufficient and sustainable humanitarian aid into the Strip, and advancing efforts to support the US-proposed peace plan.

The ministers stressed the need to move toward a clear political horizon that would establish a sovereign Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 borders, with Al Quds (occupied East Jerusalem) as its capital, based on the two-state solution.

The talks also covered developments in the occupied West Bank, with a call to end Israel’s unilateral illegal measures and violations in Islamic and Christian holy sites in Al Quds (occupied East Jerusalem), which aggravate tensions and undermine all efforts toward de-escalation.

The ministers praised Slovenia’s stance in supporting the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and its recognition of the Palestinian state based on a two-state solution.

The discussions also included regional issues, exploring ways to de-escalate tensions through diplomacy and dialogue, as well as efforts to resolve the ongoing Russia-Ukraine crisis.
