Unstable weather across Egypt until Friday

The Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) forecasts unstable weather across the country, beginning gradually from Sunday until Friday.

Temperatures will gradually decrease by about three degrees Celsius during this period, resulting in mild winter conditions during the day and cooler nights.

Winds will be active across most of the country, increasing in speed on Monday and potentially accompanied by strong gusts that may stir up sand and dust in limited areas – particularly in the Western Desert, Upper and Lower Egypt, and the Red Sea Governorate.

The weather will feel significantly colder, especially during the night and early morning hours.

Dense fog is expected at times over areas from northern Egypt to Greater Cairo, northern Upper Egypt, the Suez Canal cities, and central Sinai, particularly on agricultural and highway roads and near bodies of water.

Weather maps indicate an increase in rain clouds during the day, moving towards the Delta governorates, Greater Cairo, the Suez Canal cities, and northern Sinai.

Rain may also reach limited areas of northern Upper Egypt. The rain will be scattered and not confined to specific locations, and may be accompanied by thunderstorms at times.

Sunday’s weather

Warm to hot conditions will prevail across most of the country on Sunday. There will be chances of rainfall on the far northwestern coast, especially in Marsa Matrouh, with moderate and intermittent showers.

This will gradually extend to the rest of the northern coast and northern Lower Egypt, with periods of intermittent rain.

Expected temperatures for Sunday:

  • Matrouh: 19C
  • Alexandria: 20C
  • Cairo: 22C
  • Hurghada: 25C
  • Sharm El-Sheikh 26C
  • Luxor: 28C
  • Aswan: 29C
