Temperatures continue to drop in Egypt until Thursday

The Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) anticipates temperatures to continue dropping across most parts of the country from Sunday to Thursday, with chances of rain in scattered areas of northern Egypt.

The EMA explained that the weather will be very cold in the early morning, mild during the day in most areas, and very cold at night, with potential frost on crops in central Sinai.

Saturday’s Weather

The EMA added that Saturday will see fog in the early morning hours in areas from northern Egypt to Greater Cairo, the Suez Canal cities, northern Upper Egypt, and central Sinai.

Very cold weather will prevail during the late night and early morning hours, the EMA stated, as the country is currently being impacted by cold northerly winds.

  • Greater Cairo: The minimum temperature is expected to reach 9C, so EMA advises to pack warm clothing before going out.
  • Clouds and Rain: Medium and low clouds appear over the northern coast and northern Nile Delta, which may create a chance of rain of varying intensity in those areas.

According to the EMA’s statement, there is a chance of light rain, which may occasionally become moderate, in parts of the northern coast and northern Lower Egypt.

There will also be a roughly 20 percent chance of light rain in parts of southern Lower Egypt, Greater Cairo, and the Suez Canal cities.

The EMA indicated that winds are expected to pick up in parts of the western coast, South Sinai, and southern Egypt.

Expected temperatures for Sunday:

  • Matrouh: 16C
  • Cairo and Alexandria: 18C
  • Hurghada: 21C
  • Sharm El-Sheikh: 22C
  • Luxor and Aswan: 23C
