CAIRO, March 1 (MENA) – President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi reiterated Egypt’s full solidarity with Arab countries that came under attacks by Iran, stressing categorical rejection of any threat to the security, sovereignty and stability of Arab states.
President Sisi also expressed Egypt’s full support for measures taken by those countries to safeguard their security and protect their populations.
The President made the remarks during a phone call with Oman’s Sultan Haitham bin Tariq to discuss escalating military developments in the region.
Presidential spokesperson Mohamed al-Shennawy said President Sisi condemned the targeting of Oman’s Duqm Port earlier on Sunday and reiterated Egypt’s firm position calling for dialogue and peaceful means to resolve regional crises, warning of the serious consequences of the region sliding into chaos amid the escalation.
President Sisi also praised Oman’s role in mediation and facilitating negotiations between the United States and Iran over Tehran’s nuclear program.
For his part, Sultan Haitham expressed appreciation for Egypt’s support for peaceful conflict resolution and its efforts to contain tensions, affirming the strong historic ties between the two countries.
Both sides agreed to continue consultation and coordination to help contain the escalation and avoid further regional instability. (MENA)
