
Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly announced that the upcoming increase in the minimum wage will be the largest in Egypt’s history, implemented in line with the directives of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.
Speaking at a press conference on Saturday, 28/3/2026, Madbouly said the new wage package will be officially announced soon, following the final review of the state budget for the 2026–2027 fiscal year.
The premier explained that the move aims to improve living standards and mitigate the impact of rising prices, thereby enhancing citizens’ purchasing power.
The press conference was attended by Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk, Minister of State for Information Diaa Rashwan, Planning Minister Ahmed Rostom, Electricity Minister Mahmoud Esmat, and Petroleum Minister Karim Badawi.
Madbouly stressed that the government is continuing efforts to ease economic pressures and support citizens amid current global challenges.
