Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Expatriates Badr Abdelatty reviewed Cairo’s efforts to de-escalate tensions and contain instability in the region during a meeting in Washington with Chairman of the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee Senator James Risch.

Abdelatty highlighted Egypt’s intensive contacts aimed at reaching a ceasefire and supporting stability in the Middle East.

The two sides discussed the latest regional developments, including the course of negotiations between the US and Iran.

On the Palestinian issue, Abdelatty outlined Egypt’s position on developments in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, reviewing ongoing efforts to support security, peace and stability in the Middle East.

He praised the longstanding Egyptian-US relationship, which spans more than four decades, as well as active engagement between Egypt and the US Congress, underscoring Egypt’s role in promoting regional security and stability.

The minister also pointed to growing momentum in bilateral ties, stressing shared interest in boosting economic, trade and investment cooperation and attracting more US investment to Egypt.

Abdelatty invited Risch to visit Egypt at the earliest opportunity, an invitation the senator welcomed.
