FM deplores targeting of vicinity of UAE’s Barakah Nuclear Power Plant

Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty condemned in the strongest terms the targeting of the vicinity of the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant in the UAE.

This came during a phone call held on Sunday, May 17, 2026, between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Egypt and the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

During the call, Abdelatty affirmed Cairo’s full solidarity with Abu Dhabi and its complete support for all measures and actions the UAE takes to protect its security, stability, and national resources.

The two ministers exchanged views on the rapidly unfolding developments in the region and the efforts being made to reduce escalation.

Abdelatty emphasized Egypt’s firm and unwavering position that the security of the UAE and all sisterly Gulf states is an integral part of Egypt’s national security.

The two ministers also discussed the course of the distinguished relations between Egypt and the United Arab Emirates, noting the continuous development of these ties across various fields, which reflects the close fraternal ties between President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, in addition to the mutual keenness of both countries to enhance frameworks of joint cooperation in a way that serves the interests of the two brotherly peoples.
