Egypt has initiated the trial phase of its newly upgraded digital Visa-on-Arrival (VoA) system at Cairo International Airport. The system is scheduled for a full-scale launch across all terminals at Cairo International Airport this August, ahead of a gradual rollout to all Egyptian airports nationwide.
The new system aims to eliminate airport congestion, accelerate arrival procedures, and elevate the overall travel experience for tourists entering Egypt. By replacing the traditional physical sticker with a secure, highly efficient digital Visa-on-Arrival, the process is streamlined significantly.
Under the new framework, travelers seeking a Visa-on-Arrival can input their data via self-service kiosks at arrival terminals, the system’s official website, or a dedicated mobile application. Once the visa fee and service charges are paid electronically through the platform’s secure payment channels, the visa is issued instantly as a QR code.
Passport control officers then simply scan the QR code to verify its authenticity. Additionally, travelers have the flexibility to obtain this digital visa 48 hours prior to arrival or secure it directly through authorized tourism agencies.
