Egypt reaffirms support for Lebanon, calls for full Israeli withdrawal

Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty held a phone call with Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam to discuss the latest developments in Lebanon.

Abdelatty stressed during the call on Saturday, May 30, 2026, Egypt’s full solidarity with Lebanon in facing the current challenges, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Tamim Khallaf said.

The Foreign Minister reiterated Egypt’s position calling for a complete Israeli withdrawal from all Lebanese territories, stressing that any violation of Lebanon’s sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity constitutes a blatant breach of international law and United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701.

Khallaf added that Abdelatty underlined the importance of supporting Lebanese state institutions, particularly the Lebanese army, to enable them to fulfill their responsibilities in extending state authority and sovereignty across the entire national territory.

He also stressed the need to ensure that arms remain exclusively under the control of the Lebanese state, describing this as a fundamental pillar for preserving Lebanon’s security and stability, supporting state institutions and safeguarding the resources and interests of the Lebanese people.
