Wizz Air expands reach to Egypt with 27 new flights from Poland

Egypt’s Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities announced the launch of a new flight program by the low-cost carrier Wizz Air, operating 27 weekly flights from Poland to Egypt for the first time.

The program targets three of the country’s most prominent tourist destinations: Marsa Alam, Hurghada, and Sharm el-Sheikh.

The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities announced on Thursday that Wizz Air began operating the program on July.

It includes 11 flights to Marsa Alam, nine to Hurghada, and seven to Sharm el-Sheikh, in addition to the airline’s existing flights from other tourist markets.

Fruits of cooperation

The ministry explained that the launch of the new program is the culmination of ongoing cooperation and partnership with the airline, following a series of meetings and discussions held by Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Sherif Fathy, with company officials.

The most recent meeting took place last June with Ian Molin, Chief Commercial Officer of Wizz Air.

Fathy affirmed the Ministry’s commitment to expanding cooperation with tourism industry partners across various global markets.

He noted that the launch of these flights reflects the growing confidence of major international airlines in Egypt as a tourist destination and supports the country’s strategy to increase tourist numbers and achieve its target of 30 million tourists by 2030.

The Assistant Minister of Tourism and Antiquities for Aviation and Follow-up, Ahmed Nabil, said that the new program will help increase the number of Polish tourists and raise hotel occupancy rates in Marsa Alam, Hurghada, and Sharm el-Sheikh.

It also further aid in strengthening Egypt’s position as a preferred tourist destination for Polish travelers.

He pointed out that the high demand for these flights reflects the Polish market’s interest in Egypt’s diverse tourism offerings, including beach, leisure, and cultural tourism.
