Marvel Studios revealed during a panel discussion at the San Diego Comic-Con that they have chosen acclaimed Hollywood star Ryan Gosling to portray Ghost Rider in a new film slated for release in 2028.
The film will be directed by Shawn Levy, who previously collaborated with Marvel on “Deadpool & Wolverine” (2024) and also worked with Gosling on “Star Wars: Starfighter”, scheduled for release in 2027.
During the panel discussion at San Diego Comic-Con, Gosling appeared on stage to confirm the news, saying, “As you know, I’ve always wanted to play this character.”
Director Levy added, “We all agree that Gosling is a fantastic choice… See you in 2028.”
Ghost Rider is the latest addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The story revolves around stunt biker Johnny blaze, who makes a deal with the Devil to sell his soul in exchange for healing his adoptive father.
When the Devil betrays him, Johnny’s soul becomes bound to a supernatural entity called Zarathus, representing the spirit of vengeance, which transforms him into Ghost Rider.
The character of Ghost Rider was previously portrayed by Nicolas Cage, known for his deep passion for comic books and their heroes, in the 2007 film “Ghost Rider” and the 2011 film “Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance”.
