The Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) revealed on Wednesday that attacks on Abha International Airport and King Khalid International Airport resulted in several injuries among citizens and foreign residents, ranging from minor to severe, as a result of the Houthi aggression on King Khalid International Airport.
In an official statement, the authority explained that “on Tuesday and Wednesday, Abha and King Khalid International Airports were subjected to two attacks targeting their facilities. Emergency teams and competent authorities immediately responded to both attacks upon occurrence, in accordance with approved procedures and plans.”
The statement continued: “The overt attack on Abha International Airport resulted in two fatalities among female residents of Moroccan and Algerian nationalities, as well as 28 injuries among citizens and two foreign residents of Bangladeshi and Philippine nationalities, with injuries ranging from minor to severe.”
According to the statement: “The attack on King Khalid International Airport resulted in one fatality of a resident of Sudanese nationality, along with eight injuries, including five citizens, two residents of Egyptian nationality, and one resident of Pakistani nationality, with injuries ranging from minor to severe.”
The authority noted that “all injured individuals were immediately transferred to the hospital to receive the necessary medical care, and both attacks resulted in some material damage.”
The authority clarified that it is working in continuous integration and coordination with relevant security agencies to assess damages and take all necessary measures to ensure the safety of passengers and workers, while maintaining the security and safety of the civil aviation system in the Kingdom.
