Egyptian actress Tayseer Fahmy filed an application Tuesday to register a new Equality and Development party.
Fahmy, the deputy founder of the would-be party, said she has submitted a notarized petition including 5200 signatures of people who wish to join.
In statements to the press, Fahmy said the party would field young revolutionaries as candidates in the upcoming parliamentary elections.
The actress also said the party would operate in 18 of Egypt's 27 governorates that she visited while gathering signatures for the formation of the party.
The party does not have public figures but rather good thinkers in all areas, she said.
Fahmy actively participated in revolution protests and says her party will work to achieve the objectives of the revolution.
