Agriculture minister refers officials to prosecution

Egypt’s Minister of Agriculture Ezz Eddin Abusteit referred the directors of the property, tenure and finance departments within the Agrarian Reform Directorates of Beheira, Damietta, Gharbiya, Qaliubiya and Minya to the administrative prosecutors over negligence and administrative and financial irregularities.

Abusteit received final reports on the findings of an investigation committee formed by the chairman of the Public Authority for Agrarian Reform and the legal advisor of the Ministry of Agriculture to review the work of directorates of agrarian reform in the governorates of Beheira, Damietta, Gharbiya, Qaliubiya and Minya, after which he referred the officials to the prosecution.

The report reviewed the measures taken by the officials referred to prosecutors regarding the collection of the dues of the Public Authority for Agrarian Reform from the hand-setters, the collection of the land sale installments, and legal action taken regarding violations on agricultural land.

Abusteit instructed Chairman of the Public Authority for Agrarian Reform Hassan al-Fouly to use “an iron fist” against all violators. He also praised the revenues achieved by the authority, equal to 196 percent.
