Al-Azhar expressed its heartfelt condolences and sympathy to Venezuela over the victims of the devastating earthquake that struck the country, leaving hundreds of people dead, while thousands of others have been injured and displaced.
In a statement released on Friday, Al-Azhar affirmed its full humanitarian solidarity with the Venezuelan people in the wake of the tragedy.
Al-Azhar said that it was following with deep sorrow reports of the collapse of hundreds of buildings and residential towers, the declaration of a state of emergency and large-scale evacuation operations in the affected areas.
It called on the international community and humanitarian relief organizations to swiftly provide on-the-ground assistance, support rescue teams in searching for those trapped under the rubble, and provide shelter for those affected.
Al-Azhar extended its sincere condolences to the Venezuelan government, people, and the families of the victims and prayed for Allah to bestow mercy upon the deceased.
Al-Azhar also wished a speedy recovery for the injured and prayed for Allah to protect humanity from all harm.
