Al-Azhar warns of ‘Imminent Death’ facing patients in Gaza hospitals, calls for urgent global action

Al-Azhar warned on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, of an imminent humanitarian catastrophe and certain death facing hundreds of patients, the wounded, and infants in intensive care units and incubators across Gaza Strip hospitals.

This warning follows alarming statements issued by the Palestinian Ministry of Health regarding the depletion of fuel and oil reserves required to power hospital generators.

Al-Azhar emphasized that deliberately severing the energy lifeline from medical facilities constitutes a collective death sentence for innocent civilians and a full-fledged war crime that violates all international laws and conventions.

In a statement released on Wednesday, Al-Azhar called on the international community, as well as UN and humanitarian organizations, to assume their full responsibilities in the face of silence over this suffocating siege.

It cautioned that turning hospitals from life-saving sanctuaries into mass graves represents a stain on the conscience of humanity and explicit complicity.

Al-Azhar urged swift international action to compel the occupation to open humanitarian corridors and allow the unconditional entry of vital supplies.

Al-Azhar appealed to the Arab and Islamic worlds, the international community, and all living consciences worldwide to act urgently and exert all forms of pressure to rescue the enclave’s healthcare system and break this unjust siege.

It commended the resilience of the valiant medical staff and paramedics in Gaza, who continue to display extraordinary courage and sacrifice in the face of the machine of death and destruction.
