Armed Forces complete developments in 45 slums

The Engineering Authority of the Armed Forces have completed development work in 45 slum colonies. 
 

The development project — an Armed Forces collaboration with a number of civilian companies — targeted slums in the governorates of Cairo, Giza, and Helwan and cost LE497.4 million.

The works came as a result of a cooperation protocol signed by the Armed Forces Engineering Authority, the Development of Slums Fund and the Federation of Egyptian Banks.
 

On the list of target areas were sanitation, drinking water, fire safety systems, paving and public street lighting. In addition, the project succeeded in creating a number of markets to serve residents and renovated dilapidated housing.

In Cairo, development work has been completed in 17 slums. In Giza, work is complete in 13, slums, and in Helwan, 15.
