Bab al-Wadaa displayed at Opera House, owners hold seminar

Owners of Bab al-Wadaa (Farewell Door) movie held a seminar after the movie was displayed at the great theater of the Opera House.

A large number of stars and filmmakers were keen to watch the movie and attend the seminar including German director Volker Helendorf,  Palestinian director Najwa Najjar, Egyptian actor Khaled Abuol Naga, critic Ali Abu Shady, director Ahmed Abdallah and actor Sabry Fawaz.

The film is directed by Karim Hanafy, starring Salwa Khaytab, Ahmed Magdy, Amal Abdel Hady and Shams Labib.

Hanafy said he was influenced by the late director Shady Abdel Salam and also by the book dubbed Sculpting in Time. Hanafy used he two cameras for the film, he said, pointing out that the actual filming took only 12 days although the film took 4 years to be concluded due to production problems.

"When I was offered the role, I immediately agreed," said Khattab.

"I learned from the movie how the human gets his freedom," she added.

"Bab al-Wadaa was derived from the pharaonic and Sufi spirits," said film producer Magdy Ahmed Ali.

"(Bab al-Wadaa) will be different and has a new taste. Support should be provided for it to succeed," he added.

Magdy, the film's hero, said he presented himself to the film's director because he loved the experience, of which he is now proud.
