Bomb defused at High Court following clashes

Major General Alaa Abdel Zaher, director of Cairo's explosive department, said that the department had received a notification that an explosive was present in the vicinity of the High Court after clashes between toppled President Mohamed Morsy supporters and the security forces.

Abdel Zaher told Al-Masry Al-Youm Tuesday that experts moved to the place and inspected the reported explosive and defused it.

He claimed Molotov cocktail bottles were also found in the area.

Clashes occurred Monday morning between Muslim Brotherhood supporters who were protesting at the High Court, and the security forces.

Azbakeya Police Station Sheriff said demonstrators tried to ignite Molotov cocktails in front of the Supreme Court but the security fired tear gas to disperse them.
