British tourist accused of ‘sexually assaulting’ Egyptian policeman out on bail

A British tourist detained for the “sexual assault” of a policeman has been granted release on bail of LE20,000 by the prosecution in Hurghada on Saturday.

Tony Remo Camoccio, 51, had been arrested at the Hurghada International Airport last week after allegedly sexually assaulting a police officer.

Camoccio claims he meant nothing wrong and had only patted the officer’s back during inspection. The officer took legal action and reported the tourist, with Camoccio then referred to prosecution.

The British Foreign Ministry said that it is contacting Egypt’s Foreign Ministry and Camoccio’s family over the incident.
