Brotherhood blames sectarian strife on ‘anonymous forces’

The Muslim Brotherhood (MB) on Sunday accused anonymous external and internal forces of causing Saturday's sectarian clashes between Salafis and Christians. The clashes, in which 12 people died and 186 were injured, took place on Saturday night.

In a statement on Sunday, the MB condemned blind intolerance and the attempts by some to solve their problems outside the framework of the law.

The group said that intolerance “leads to the spread of chaos,” and that it is “the most serious threat to the revolution and its objectives.”

The MB said it welcomed the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces’ decision to transfer those charged to trial in a military court.
