Brotherhood figure accused of defaming military

Prosecutor General Taalat Abdallah ordered an investigation into a complaint submitted by a political activist that accuses a Muslim Brotherhood figure in Alexandria of defaming the Armed Forces.

The activist, Ramadan al-Luxory, accused Ali Abdel Fattah of defaming the military in statements he gave to Al-Shorouk, a privately owned newspaper.

Abdel Fattah allegedly said the military council masterminded and carried out the Rafah operation that killed 16 officers and soldiers last Ramadan.

Abdel Fattah also allegedly stated in a lecture delivered to the Brotherhood in Beheira that former presidential candidate Ahmed Shafiq, whom President Mohamed Morsy defeated in last year’s election, spent LE48 billion to buy votes.
