Brotherhood supporters referred to criminal court for involvement in Ramses Square events

The West Cairo district attorney on Wednesday referred 104 supporters of the Muslim Brotherhood and deposed President Mohamed Morsy to Cairo Criminal Court on charges of committing acts of violence and riots on a large scale in Ramses Square and the surrounding area last July. They were also charged with holding armed marches, murder, sabotage as well as destruction of public and private property.

Two people were killed and nine others were reportedly wounded by the defendants. The defendants had also allegedly destroyed cars and shop facades.

The charges were based on Homeland Security Bureau investigations, testimonies of witnesses and relatives of victims and reports of the security forces that had arrested them while committing these crimes.
